Re-Certification
Refresher Course / Operator Re-certification
The Refresher Course consists of in-class theory followed by a practical skills assessment in a warehouse setting. According to the Ontario government regulations, trained forklift operators are required to complete re-certification every 2 years to maintain their qualification. After completing the training course, each operator’s theoretical knowledge and skills will be assessed using a multiple-choice questionnaire test and practical evaluation of their ability to operate a forklift truck in a safe and efficient manner. Upon successful completion of the evaluation, each operator will receive a wallet size photo ID license and Certificate of Achievement.
Established in 1995, our organization has worked with over 500 corporate clients and has trained over 75,000 independent forklift operators in Ontario. Our fully equipped Training Centre is located in Toronto, but we also deliver training of equal quality on the customer`s premises anywhere in Ontario. GREAT programs meet or exceed the CSA Standard and the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s “Guidelines for the Safe Operation and Maintenance of Powered Lift Truck Trucks.”
Our training goes well beyond getting our students to pass the assessment or get a job; we prepare them for any kind of workplace setting and unexpected on-the-job situations. From those experiences I formed the principles that still guide our training today:
- Great training starts with great instructors who are excited about what they are doing, knowledgeable about what they are teaching and have a commitment to keeping people safe. Some companies believe that an instructor is not necessary or that you can complete forklift training “on line” and do it well. We respectfully disagree.
- Great training means using materials that are current, realistic, interesting and that not just educate, but convince people to make changes and to work safely.
- Great training is not easy and can’t be “one size fits all.” Generic programs may work for some types of safety training, but not with powered equipment. Time and effort is needed to determine the needs of each company, their application, their equipment and their unique strengths and weaknesses.
